Veterans鈥 Foundation awards £30,000 to launch new veterans rugby programme

The Veterans鈥 Foundation has awarded Bristol Bears Foundation a 拢30,000 grant to launch a new rugby programme supporting veterans.

Running until April 2029, the three-year funding package will enable the Foundation to deliver Vets Rugby Hub, providing twice-weekly walking rugby sessions that will help veterans stay active, improve wellbeing and build meaningful social connections in a supportive community environment.

The new programme forms part of Bristol Bears Foundation鈥檚 Beyond The Bear strategy, which uses the power of rugby to create healthier, stronger and more connected communities across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Designed for veterans and anyone looking to try the sport for the first time, walking rugby offers an inclusive and accessible way for participants of all abilities and experience levels to enjoy the physical and social benefits of the game.

The launch of Vets Rugby Hub represents a long-term commitment to supporting veterans through sport, creating opportunities for participants to improve their physical and mental wellbeing while building friendships and a stronger sense of community.
