It’s an honour to announce that £37 million has been awarded to organisations supporting veterans, serving personnel and their families
For the past decade, the Veterans’ Foundation has been backing organisations delivering life-changing support to the Armed Forces community across the UK.
The Foundation has awarded more than £37 million through 1,493 grants to 580 organisations helping veterans, serving personnel and families rebuild lives, improve wellbeing and stay connected to their communities.
From national charities to smaller community-led projects, the organisations funded by Veterans’ Foundation are delivering practical support where it matters most.
Funding has helped organisations:
- Deliver mental health and PTSD support
- Tackle homelessness and housing insecurity
- Improve access to employment and training
- Reduce isolation and strengthen community connection
- Support families through service life and transition to civilian life
Many organisations receive repeat or multi-year funding, helping them sustain vital services and respond to growing demand with confidence.
As the need for support continues to rise, Veterans’ Foundation is aiming to reach £40 million in grant funding by the end of this year.
Public support has been central to that growth.
Annual grant-giving has increased from £57,000 in 2017/18 to £8.85 million in 2024/25 — helping more organisations reach more people across the UK.
So far this year alone, the Foundation has awarded more than £5.7 million to projects supporting veterans and families experiencing homelessness, poor mental health, social isolation and barriers to employment.
Mark Ormrod MBE, Veterans’ Foundation Ambassador, former Royal Marine, Invictus Games athlete, author and motivational speaker, said:
“I’ve seen first-hand the challenges many veterans face when they leave service, and the importance of having the right support at the right time.
“The Veterans’ Foundation funds organisations embedded in communities, and they understand what veterans and families really need.
“Awarding more than £37 million in grants over 10 years is an incredible achievement, but what matters most is the lives that have been changed because of it.”
Jane Gurney, CEO of Veterans’ Foundation, said:
“For 10 years, we’ve backed charities and community organisations delivering frontline services to veterans and families across the UK.
“As more people from the Armed Forces community seek support, long-term investment in the help they rely on has never been more important.”
The Veterans’ Foundation is funded largely through public donations and players of the Veterans’ Lottery.
Every player helps back trusted organisations deliver life-changing support in communities across the country.
Together, supporters are helping ensure veterans, serving personnel and families can access the support they need — now and for the future.
